One of the best parts of winning the lottery is getting to share the lucky news with your loved ones, but Paula Williamson spent five weeks waiting for that to happen. She kept her £1.000.000 Euromillions win a secret, because one of her sons wasn’t at home when she discovered her victory.
Williamson won her UK Millionaire Maker prize on March 1st, but her son Jack happened to be on a four-week trip to Australia at the time. Instead of simply breaking the news on the phone, the £1.000.000 winner decided to wait for him to come back home.
Lucky Euromillions player from Barnsley wanted to celebrate her win with both of her sons, but there was one person who was aware of her good fortune – her husband.
“I did tell Geoff because that would have been so hard to keep the winning news from him, but we both decided we wanted to tell Jack and Ian at the same time. Celebrating the winning moment is something we wanted to ensure we would remember forever.” explained Williamson.
Player from Barnsley is in no rush to spend her new-found fortune. She’s currently working as a dinner lady at the Hill Primary Academy, and doesn’t intend to quit her job anytime soon. Williamson will use most of her money to make her sons happy, and she’s thinking about buying a new home for each of them.
“I keep having to pinch myself and tell myself that I really am a millionaire. We are not going to rush into anything. We are just going to take time to think. This win takes away any money worries and gives us so many options and opportunities,” concluded the £1.000.000 winner.
