This £28.000.000 hotel is the most luxurious tribute to Titanic you’ve ever seen

Even though Titanic's journey ended in tragedy, everyone fantasized about being on board of the most famous ship in the world at least once. This is, of course, impossible since it sunk almost a century ago, but thanks to the opening of the Titanic Hotel in Belfast visitors will be able to experience to most authentic homage to Titanic, that took £28.000.000 to be built.

The luxurious hotel has 119 rooms, built on the former Harland & Wolff headquarters and Drawing Offices in Belfast. Drawing rooms have been transformed into a glamorous function room and bar, which was built with the same tiles used in the swimming pools on board of the Titanic. The hotel is expected to employ around 90 people, and porters working there will be wearing period costumes to make the experience as authentic as possible.

The project was done as a partnership between the Titanic Foundation and Harcourt Developments, whose creative director John Doherty described it as “a hub of heritage and legacy”. This incredible hotel probably wouldn’t be built in the first place if it wasn’t for a  £5.000.000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Anna Carragher, trustee and chairman of HLF Northern Ireland, described it as a result of collaboration between many organizations that put a lot of time and effort into bringing it to life.

“It is wonderful to see the completion of this exciting project, which was one of the first in the UK to benefit from a Heritage Enterprise grant. This innovative programme brings together not-for-profit and private organisations, creating partnerships and funding the costs of repair to make the restoration of heritage buildings commercially viable,” explained Carragher.
